Torino Football Club, commonly known as Torino or simply Toro, is one of Italy’s most historically significant football teams. Based in the northern city of Turin, Torino was founded in 1906 and has played a major role in shaping the Italian game. The club is renowned for its passionate support, deep-rooted traditions, and a proud history that includes periods of both glory and tragedy. With a loyal fanbase and a commitment to honouring their past, Torino continues to be a respected presence in Serie A.
Torino tickets are popular among Italian football enthusiasts and international visitors alike, especially for home games at the atmospheric Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and when facing historic rivals.
Historic Torino Moments
Torino’s golden era came in the 1940s with the legendary “Grande Torino” team, widely considered one of the greatest club sides in Italian history. Led by captain Valentino Mazzola, they won five Serie A titles in just seven years and formed the backbone of the Italian national team. Their dominance was unmatched, and their influence on the game was profound.
Tragically, the era came to an end in 1949 when a plane carrying the team crashed into the Superga hillside near Turin, killing all 31 people on board. The Superga disaster marked one of the darkest days in football history and left an indelible mark on the club. Torino rebuilt over time, returning to prominence with a Serie A title in the 1975–76 season and continued domestic competitiveness in the years that followed.

Memorable Moments
The 1975–76 Serie A title win was a highlight in Torino’s post-Superga history. That season, the team displayed incredible resilience and attacking flair, edging out city rivals Juventus for the title. The victory sparked celebrations across Turin and served as a symbol of the club’s recovery and enduring strength.
Another unforgettable chapter came in the early 1990s when Torino reached the final of the UEFA Cup in 1991–92. Although they narrowly lost to Ajax on away goals, their performance across the competition, including victories over Real Madrid and Boavista, showed that Torino could compete with Europe’s best once again.
Biggest Rivalries
Torino’s most famous rivalry is with Juventus in the Derby della Mole, named after Turin’s iconic Mole Antonelliana. The derby is one of the oldest and most intense in Italian football. While Juventus is historically the more dominant club, Torino’s supporters take immense pride in their identity and traditions, and victories in the derby are celebrated passionately.
Torino also shares competitive rivalries with clubs such as Genoa and Fiorentina, built on historic clashes and meaningful battles in both league and cup competitions.

The stadium is known for its intimate feel, bringing fans closer to the action and creating a powerful matchday experience.
